Jackson, MI – The Indiana Tech men’s golf team traveled to Jackson, Michigan over the weekend for the Bill Bockwitz Collegiate hosted by Spring Arbor University. The Warriors sat in sixth place after an opening round 314, but bounced back on day two closing with a 308 for a two-day total of 622 to come in fourth.
Madonna University won the event shooting a 604 and was followed by Cornerstone University with a 609 and Spring Arbor came in third scoring a 612.
Freshman Tom Kocks (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead) led the Warriors and came in T-6th for his first Top 10 finish of his collegiate career. Kocks shot an opening round 77 and followed it up firing a season-best 73 round two for a two-day tally of 150.
Right behind Kocks was senior Mark Beneke (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Dwenger) finishing T-8th. Beneke continued his solid play with a 76 in round one and 75 in round two, ending with a 151.
Senior Nick Quick (Portage, IN/Portage) and junior Ryne Gurney (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Luers) rounded out the Tech scoring. Quick shot a 160 (78/82) to place T-22nd and Gurney turned a 161 (83/78) to finish T-24th.
The Warriors will return to action on September 29 in Canton, Michigan for the final WHAC Jamboree of the season hosted by Concordia University at Pheasant Run Golf Club.
