East Moline, IL – The Indiana Tech men’s golf team finished in 5th place at the Ashford University Invitational on Tuesday in the team’s final outing of the fall. The Warriors shot a three round total of 966, finishing 65 shots back of winner Holy Cross College with a team score of 901.
Freshman Tom Kocks (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead) led the way with a 235 to tie for 14th place. Kocks fired back-to-back 79’s in the first two rounds and then bettered his previous rounds by two strokes with a 77 in round three.
Seniors Nick Quick (Portage, IN/Portage) and Mark Beneke (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Dwenger) finished close behind in 23rd and 26th place respectively. After an opening round 83, Quick bounced back with a 77 in round two and followed it up with an 81 in the third round to card a 241 total. Beneke started strong with a 79 in the opening round and shot an 81 and 84 in the second and third.
Junior Ryne Gurney (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Luers) and freshman Nate Kolmerten (New Haven, IN/New Haven) shot matching 250’s to tie for 44th place.
