Adrian, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men’s golf team shot a team score of 299 on Saturday to finish in a tie for third place at the first WHAC Jamboree of the season played at Lenawee Country Club.
Host school Siena Heights University took home the top spot with a 295, followed closely by Madonna University with a 298. The University of Northwestern Ohio tied with the Warriors for the third spot just four shots off the lead.
Sophomore Tom Kocks (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead) had one of the best rounds of his career to pace the Warriors, firing a one-over 72 to finish in a tie for second place.
Freshman Andrew Taylor (Napoleon, OH/Napoleon) nabbed the first top-5 finish of his collegiate career with an impressive 74, and sophomore Nate Kolmerten (New Haven, IN/New Haven) was right behind him carding a 76.
Freshmen Ethan Galloway (French Lick, IN/Springs Valley) and Tyler Willette (Collingwood, Ontario/Collingwood Collegiate) turned in matching 77’s while fellow freshman Zach Wetzel (Decatur, IN/Bellmont) had a 78.
The Warriors are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 11 for the first round of play at the WHAC Jamboree #2 hosted by Cornerstone University at Quail Ridge Golf Club in Ada, Michigan. Round two will be hosted by Davenport University and played at Stonewater Country Club on Wednesday.
