Canton, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men’s golf team finished in fourth place out of the nine team field at the WHAC Jamboree #3 hosted by Madonna University at Fellows Creek Golf Club on Saturday.
The Warriors total score of 305 was just eight shots back of winner Davenport University who shot a 297. Sienna Heights University took second with a 299 and host Madonna rounded out the top three with a 300.
Leading the way for the Warriors was sophomore Nate Kolmerten (New Haven, IN/New Haven). Kolmerten turned in the best round of his collegiate career, firing a one-over 73 for the day to tie for third place with three other golfers.
Senior Jamaal Jones (Detroit, MI/Renaissance) and freshman Zach Wetzel (Decatur, IN/Bellmont) both finished with a score of 77, tying for 17th. Freshmen Tyler Willette (Collingwood, Ont./Collingwood Collegiate) was just off their pace with a 78, tying for 21st, to round out the scoring for Tech.
After three Jamborees, the Warriors sit in fifth place. The team is 18 shots off the pace of leader Davenport with one conference match remaining.
The Warriors return to action on Oct. 8-9 for the Ashford Invitational. Both rounds will be held at Short Hills Country Club in East Moline, Illinois.
