For Immediate Release
Fort Wayne, Ind. – Indiana Tech’s Tom Kocks (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead) and Nate Kolmerten (New Haven, IN/New Haven) earned WHAC First Team All-Conference honors for men’s golf after the completion of the conference’s final Jamboree on Friday.
The sophomore tandem has led the Warriors all fall and was the team’s top two scorers. Through the four WHAC Jamborees, Kocks and Kolmerten averaged matching scores of 76.8, but Kolmerten has a slight edge overall, carrying a 77.3 average to Kocks’ 77.7.
Kocks’ best performance this fall came at the WHAC Jamboree #1 where he fired a season-low 72 to tie for second place overall. His one-over par 72 led the Warriors to a third place team finish, and was one stroke off his career-low of 71 he established last year as a freshman.
So far this season, Kocks has two top-5 finishes and has placed in the top-10 four times.
Kolmerten has had an outstanding start to his second season as a Warrior, dropping his average score by more than five shots per round. He shot a career-low one-over 73 at the WHAC Jamboree #3 to finish tied for third place.
Like his teammate, Kolmerten has two top-5 finishes and four top-10 finishes so far this season.
The All-Conference teams were selected by the lowest conference average in the four jamborees and the athlete must have competed in all four events. The first through sixth lowest average scorers were named All-Conference, and places seven through 12 were named Honorable Mention.
The Warriors finished fourth during the regular season and will now wait for the WHAC Championships in April for a chance to earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship in Salem, Oregon.
