BOX SCORE | YPSILANTI, Mich. –The Indiana Tech men’s golf team opened the 2013-14 season with a fifth place finish in the first of four Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Jamborees, at the Polo Fields Country Club on Monday.
After some rough weather and several delays the Warriors put together a solid round of 322 (+34), 25-shots behind the winner, Davenport (297).
The Orange and Black were led by Tom Kocks who carded a seven-over par 79 to finish tied for 13th. Zach Wetzel finished one shot behind Kocks to finish tied for 16th while Nate Kolmerten finished with an 81 and tied for 21st. Ethan Galloway and Tyler Willette each carded 82’s to round out the scoring for Tech while Brandon Bailey shot 85 for the day.
Davenport won the event and was led by individual champion Adrian Balbas who carded a two-under 70 for the day. Cornerstone finished second with a 305, while Northwestern Ohio (309), Siena Heights (315) and the Warriors rounded out the top five.
The Warriors return to the links on Monday, Sept. 16 for the first round of the Mike Lalaeff Memorial Invitational at Lost Marsh G.C. in Hammond, Ind. Teams are scheduled to tee off at 10 a.m.
