RESULTS | HAMMOND, Ind. –The Indiana Tech men’s golf team sits in ninth and 16th place in the 16-team, 87 player Mike Lalaeff Memorial Invitational at the Lost Marsh Golf Course on Monday.
Zach Wetzel paced the Warriors with a first round 80 and is tied for 19th while Tom Kocks and Tyler Willette each carded an 83 and are tied for 35th. Nate Kolmerten finished the first round with an 84 and Ethan Galloway carded an 85 to round out the scoring as the Warriors carded a first round 330.
Tech also placed a second team in the tournament that was led by Brandon Bailey who finished with an 87. Tyler Turnwald shot an 89, Dan Novitski carded a 96 and Nick Brogdon shot a 116 for a team total of 388.
Saint Xavier leads the tournament by 13 strokes over Owens CC after carding a first round 304. Carthage (318) is one shot behind Owens in third while Lewis (321) and Cornerstone (322) round out the top five.
The Warriors will look to make up some ground when they tee off at 9 a.m. tomorrow for the final round at Lost Marsh Golf Course in Hammond, Ind.
