RESULTS | EAST MOLINE, Ill. –The Indiana Tech men’s golf team is currently sixth after cardings a 36-hole total of 617 (308-309) on the first day of the Ashford University Invitational at Short Hills Golf Course.
Zach Wetzel led the Warriors on the first day of competition and is currently tied for 15th after carding back-to-back 76’s for a 36-hole total of 152. Brandon Bailey (77-78) and Tom Kocks (81-74) finished three shots behind Wezel and are tied for 24th after shooting 155.
Nate Kolmerten shot a 159 (78-81), two strokes better than Tyler Willette who rounded out the scoring for Tech with a 160 (77-83).
Bellevue University currently leads the event with three golfers in the top-five and the only team under-par on day one with a 572 (291-281). The host Saints, led by Ryan Hilton who currently leads the tournament, are second with a 590 (304-286) while Mount Mercy College (302-298=600), St. Ambrose (297-304=601) and Augustana (305-307=612) round out the top five.
The Warriors conclude play in their first 54-hole tournament of the year tomorrow with the final round slated to start at 8 a.m. at the Short Hills Golf Course.
