Saline, Mich. – The 16th ranked Indiana Tech men’s lacrosse team saw its 2012 season come to an end on Saturday with a 9-8 loss to No. 2 Grand Valley State University in the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association (CCLA) Tournament Semifinals at Saline High School in Saline, Michigan.
The fourth-seeded Warriors held a slim 5-4 lead at halftime, but the top-seeded Lakers rallied in the second half to edge Tech and advance to the playoff finals.
Leading the way for the Warriors was junior Craig Schaepkens (Davison, MI/Davison) with four points. Schaepkens added to his team-high point total, scoring a game-high three goals and added an assist.
Brent Nichter (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Luers) and Tony Cremeens (St. Charles, MO/Hazelwood) chipped in two goals apiece while Nichter also handed out one assist. Dylan Johnston (Oshawa, Can./All Saints) also had a goal to round out Tech’s scoring. Sophomore Tony Loftus (Fishers, IN/Hamilton Southeastern) was outstanding in goal for the Warriors making 19 saves on the day.
Indiana Tech closes the season with a 9-8 overall record for the team’s third straight winning season.
