West Lafayette, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men’s lacrosse team capped off their fall schedule with a scrimmage at Purdue University where the Warriors defeated the Boilermakers 14-7.
After the Warriors took an early 1-0 lead, Josh Puckett (Mason, OH/Mason) added three more first quarter goals to give Tech a 4-0 advantage after the first 15 minutes.
Purdue cut the deficit to one with three straight goals to start the second quarter, but Tech ended the half on a 2-0 run to take a 6-3 lead into halftime.
The Warriors took over in the second half, controlling most of the possession and outscored Purdue 8-4 over the final 30 minutes.
Puckett finished with four goals and three assists to lead the way. Tony Cremeens (St. Charles, MO/Hazelwood) followed with three scores while Dylan Johnston (Oshawa, Ont./All Saints), Brent Nichter (Ft. Wayne, IN/Bishop Luers), and Craig Schaepkens (Davison, MI/Davison) all added two goals apiece. Schaepkens also dished out six assists. Justin Famiglietti (Peabody, MA/Veterans Memorial) made nine saves in the second half.
The Warriors will open the regular season on Mar. 1 in St. Paul, Minnesota against North Dakota State University, who finished the year ranked No. 8 in the Coaches Poll, followed by a matchup against the defending MCLA DII National Champions University of St. Thomas on Mar. 2.
