Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men’s lacrosse team landed at No. 10 in Lacrosse Magazine’s 2013 Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division II Preseason Top 20 poll.
Defending MCLA DII national champions University of St. Thomas holds the No. 1 spot while Grand Valley State University, who ended the Warriors postseason run last season, comes in at No. 2.
Entering the program’s fourth year, and third in the MCLA, Head Coach Terry Nichter has his squad rated as high as they have ever been. Tech is coming off a 9-8 season where they swept the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Assocation (CCLA) Central Division and advanced all the way to the CCLA semifinals before bowing out in a 9-8 loss to Grand Valley State.
Indiana Tech played one of the toughest schedules in the country a season ago, facing 11 ranked teams. The challenging slate has prepared the team for the upcoming season and the Warriors will lean on the experience of their battle tested upper classmen with hopes of another deep postseason run in 2013.
Coach Nichter and his Warriors will have a chance to make a big statement immediately, opening the regular season against two top-5 opponents.
On Mar. 1, the Warriors will travel to St. Paul, Minnesota to take on No. 4 North Dakota State University followed by a matchup with the defending champs St. Thomas on Mar. 2.
