Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men’s lacrosse team slid one spot to No. 16 in the week eight edition of the MCLA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, announced on Tuesday.
The Warriors went 0-1 last week suffering a 15-11 setback to then-No. 14 Liberty University at Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium on the campus of Trine University. Tech held an 8-4 lead early in the third quarter, but Liberty, ranked No. 8 in this week’s poll, used a strong second half to overcome the deficit.
Senior Craig Schaepkens leads the team with nine goals this season, which also ranks top-5 in the conference. In addition to his two goals and three assists, classmate Dylan Johnston has picked up a team-high 15 ground balls. Goaltender Justin Famiglietti owns a .567 save percentage and has made 38 saves.
Indiana Tech (0-3) will host No. 20 Washington University-St. Louis in its home opener on Saturday, Mar. 23 beginning at 3 p.m.
