MSOC Postseason Honors; Gaye Named First Team

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conferenece (WHAC) announced its postseason honors for men’s soccer on Saturday and Indiana Tech’s Aultain Gaye (Grand Rapids, MI/Grand Rapids Central) was named to the First Team All-WHAC.

Gaye capped off an outstanding career with the Warriors with a spectacular senior season. He paced the team in goals (10) and assists (4), and finished the regular season among the conference leaders in both categories as well. The standout forward was the offensive catalyst for Tech all year, coming up with big goals time and time again, including three game-winners. This was Gaye’s second piece of WHAC hardware after earning an Honorable Mention nod a season ago. For his career, he has 21 goals and 11 assists.

Receiving Honorable Mention All-Conference honors were Padraic Ormsby (Wicklow, Ireland/) and Reece Richardson (Halifax, England/Ryburn Valley). The duo anchored the Tech defense that shutout seven opponents and ranked first in the league in goals allowed per game (0.94) this season. Ormsby also scored three goals, with two game-winners, and added one assist. During the regular season, Richardson recorded 89 saves with a .840 save percentage while posting an 0.89 goals against average, which was the best in the WHAC and ranked 13th in the NAIA.

Sophomore Garrett Black (Memphis, MI/Armada) was named to the Champions of Character Team for best representing the five core values of the NAIA’s Champions of Character initiative – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

Junior Tim Short (Brownstown, MI/) earned a spot on the All-Academic Team for his hard work and dedication in the classroom. To qualify, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.25 or better GPA and be a junior or above in academic standing.
