Warriors Advance to NAIA National Tournament
FORT WAYNE, IN- The Indiana Tech Men’s Soccer team won the 2009 WHAC Men’s Soccer Tournament Championship Game with a thrilling 2-0 victory over the visiting Panthers of Davenport University.
Both teams spent the early portion of the game trying to find their rhythm before senior Joel Putek (Lincoln Park, MI / Lincoln Park) found the back of the net off a Tom Pickersgill (Manchester, UK / Morecombe College) corner kick at the 27th minute. As the game continued, each side looked to gain advantage in the remainder of the match before junior Benny Saydee (Lansing, MI / Everett HS), in the final minutes, pounced on a loose ball and flicked it past the keeper for the final result.
The Warriors will advance to the NAIA National Tournament; playing the Opening Round next Saturday, November 21st at a site and opponent to be determined.
