Fort Wayne, IN – The Warriors hosted Illinois Tech on Thursday night and fell to the Scarlet Hawks, 3-0. Illinois Tech jumped on top early with a goal just six minutes into the game and the Warriors were unable to get anything past the Scarlet Hawks goalie.
The Warriors defense settled in after giving up the quick score and held Illinois Tech to only one more shot in the first half. Indiana Tech was able to get three shots on goal but came up empty.
Early in the second half, Sam Terman (Mason, MI/Mason HS) had a chance to tie the game on a free kick after a yellow card on the Scarlet Hawks but hit the post. Terman finished the night leading the Warriors with six shots.
Illinois Tech scored again in the 76th minute to take a two score lead, and added another with less than a minute to play to put the game away.
Aultain Gaye (Grand Rapids, MI/Grand Rapids Central HS), Stephen Sweeney (Scotland, UK/St. Margaret’s HS), and Mark Baptist (England, UK/South East Essex College) finished with two shots apiece. Stephen Putek (Lincoln Park, MI/Lincoln Park HS) made four saves in the game.
The Warriors will kick-off conference action on October 2, when they host Concordia University. Game time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
