Southfield, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men’s soccer team cruised to a fourth straight victory on Wednesday afternoon, going on the road and defeating conference foe Lawrence Tech 4-0.
Senior Aultain Gaye (Grand Rapids, MI/Grand Rapids Central) scored a pair of first half goals to put the Warriors comfortably in front before junior Paulo Delgadillo (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Parkland) tallied his first two goals of the season in the second half.
Tech moved to 10-4-2 on the year, their fourth straight 10-win season, and climbed to second place in the conference standings with a 6-1-2 mark.
Lawrence Tech dropped to 2-14-1 overall and are now 0-8-1 in their first season as a member of the WHAC.
Gaye put the Warriors on top in the ninth minute of action. After receiving a pass from Robbie Kiernan (Dublin, Ireland/), Gaye beat his defender and slipped a shot past the LTU keeper.
Less than eight minutes later, Gaye would strike again to double the Tech lead. Freshman Nick Didion (Ft. Wayne, IN/Blackhawk Christian) played a ball to Gaye, who again beat his man and was left one on one with the goalie and he buried the shot into the back of the net.
Delgadillo got in on the scoring early in the second half when he blasted a shot in off the crossbar in the 49th minute. He then put the game out of reach with a second score of the day in the 73rd minute. Jared Wilson-Santos (Lansing, MI/Olivet) sent in a corner kick and Delgadillo headed it home to give the Warriors the 4-0 win.
Junior keeper Reece Richardson (Halifax, England/Ryburn Valley) posted his seventh shutout of the season. Richardson, the reigning WHAC Defensive Player of the Week, recorded nine saves on the day.
The Warriors will host Cornerstone University in their final home match of the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m.
