Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men’s tennis team blanked Indiana University East 9-0 in a non-league match at Swinney Park on Wednesday afternoon.
The win moved the Warriors to 2-0 on the year while the Red Wolves dropped to 2-3.
Tech began the day by sweeping all three doubles matches. The freshmen pair of Nicholas Tripanon (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Alberto Tenias (Villahermosa, Mexico) won 8-3 at first doubles over Ty Butler and Adam Derengowski.
Second doubles belonged to Sriram Aranganathan (Chennai, India) and Clayton Northey (Livonia, MI/Michigan) 8-2, while the team of Fernando Gonzalez (Santiago, Chile) and Jordan Cunningham (Lubbock, TX/Coronado) took third doubles by the same score.
In singles play, the Warriors were just as dominant. The closest match was played at #1 singles where Gonzalez defeated IU-East’s Butler in a third-set tiebreak.
The Warriors return to the courts on Tuesday, Sept. 25 when they welcome Taylor University to town. The match is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
