Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men’s tennis team grabbed yet another win this season, this time against Taylor University in a non-league match at Swinney Park on Tuesday afternoon.
The win moved the Warriors to 3-0 on the year while the Trojans dropped to 3-7.
The Warriors yet again excelled in the doubles competition against the Trojans, taking two of the three flights. The freshmen duo of Nicholas Tripanon (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Alberto Tenias (Villahermosa, Mexico) battled TU’s Wes Nitzsche and Collin Williams and won 8-6 at first doubles. Tech didn’t stop there, going on to win second doubles as well. Junior Sriram Aranganathan (Chennai, India) and freshman Clayton Northey (Livonia, MI/Michigan) defeated their opponents 8-4.
In singles play, the Warriors were in a heated battle against the Trojans with both teams taking three matches.
At #1 singles, Fernando Gonzales (Santiago, Chile) defeted Luke Tilden in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. The Warriors also picked up wins at #2 and #4 singles with Tripanon narrowly defeating Cameron Boehning 7-5, 7-6 (4), and Aranganathan defeating Collin Williams by a final of 6-0, 6-3.
The Warriors next match will be Saturday, Sept. 29 when they travel to Huntington University. The contest is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
