Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men’s tennis team kicked off its spring season with a bang by defeating Adrian College 6-3 on Friday night at Wildwood Racquet Club.
The Warriors improved to 4-2 on the year as they handed Adrian just its second loss of the season.
Tech began the day by taking two of the matches in doubles competition. Sriram Aranganathan (Chennai, India) and newcomer Joaquin Ferrando (Mar de Plata-Buenos Aires, Argentina) defeated their opponents 8-3 before Nicholas Tripanon (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Alberto Tenias (Villahermosa, Mexico) edged out a 9-8 (5) win at the No. 3 position.
Moving to singles matches, Fernando Gonzalez (Santiago, Chile), the 18th ranked player in the region, set the tone for the Warriors with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 position. Ferrando, Tripanon, and Clayton Northey (Livonia, MI/Michigan) all recorded convincing straight set victories.
The Warriors are right back in action Saturday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. at Grace College.
