BOX SCORE | FORT WAYNE, Ind. –The Indiana Tech men’s tennis team got their 2013-14 season underway on Saturday at the Swinney Park Tennis Courts with 6-3 victory over Otterbein. Indiana Tech moves to 1-0 while Otterbein falls to 0-1.
Playing at No. 2 doubles, the Warriors’ duo of Joaquin Ferrando and Gaston Raposo routed Otterbein’s Ryan Shutt and Zach McDivitt. At No. 3 doubles, Tech’s Sriram Aranganathan and Vinicius Silva dispatched Kendall Coffman and Kyle May 8-3 to put the Warriors up 2-0, but Otterbein’s Will Wilson and David Seckel got a point back for the Cardinals with an 8-5 victory over Mikel Oscoz and Joaquin de Leon del Rosario.
Otterbein got two more points at the top two doubles spots as Wilson defeated Ferrando, 6-4, 6-2 and Shutt downed Aranganathan 6-3, 6-4. However, the Warriors swept the final four spots to capture the 6-3 victory. Oscoz defeated Seckel (6-4, 6-2) at No. 3, Gaston won 6-0, 7-5 over Coffman at No. 4 while Alberto Tenias defeated Perry Williams (6-3, 6-2) and Nicholas Tripanon downed Alec Mieras 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
The Warriors return to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 10 when they host Tiffin at 4 p.m. at Kreager Park in Fort Wayne, Ind.
