Fort Wayne, IN--The Indiana Tech Men’s Tennis Team will be lead by its four seniors – Brandon Barger, Mark Freiherr, Paulo Mattos & Jose Villavicencio, in their final season of play.
This will be the first graduating class, as the Warrior Tennis Program began in the fall of 2006. The four seniors have not only lead the men’s team on the court, but have also been very successful in the classroom.
These student-athletes have maintained their varsity singles and doubles positions throughout their four year careers.
Jose Villavicencio has played in the number one singles and doubles position from the beginning of his freshman year. He has been ranked as high as #37 in the country in NAIA singles. He and his doubles partner, Paulo Mattos have also been one of the toughest pairs to beat in their four years together at number 1 doubles. Paulo came to Indiana Tech in the Spring of 2007 and made an immediate impact on the team.
Brandon Barger was the first recruit to sign in the spring of 2006 and he has played his entire collegiate career in the top 6 singles and top 3 doubles positions. Besides his on-court success, he has lead the team academically and has been recognized nationally with academic awards from the NAIA and ITA. He was also recognized by the ITA as an Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship Award winner for 2008-2009.
Mark Freiherr has also been a key singles and doubles player in his four years and has also been a key to the teams academic success. He is also the team and Warrior Tennis Program’s biggest cheerleader.
The Indiana Tech Men’s Tennis Team and the coaching staff wish these four outstanding student-athletes the best of luck during their final season and continued success following their graduation.
