Tech Signs First Three of 2013-14 Recruiting Class

October 16, 2012

For Immediate Release

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Indiana Tech track and field is proud to announce its first three signings for the 2013-14 recruiting class.

Trevor Stanley (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead) joins the Warriors as an accomplished 300 hurdler for the Spartans. Trevor owns a career-best of 38.33 and won his Sectional and Regional last year. Trevor’s time is the fourth fastest returner in the state of the Indiana.

Coach Edgar on Trevor: “We are very excited about Trevor. He fought many battles against current Tech runners Ryan Cavender (Ft. Wayne, IN/Carroll) and Creig Leu (LaGrange, IN/Lakeland) over the last few years and joins several other Homestead athletes on the roster. We honestly feel that he is the best 300 hurdler in the state of Indiana are lucky to have him. I think he comes in this year motivated to prove himself after suffering a fall at the 2012 state meet. He will be a great addition to our program and we look forward to watching his senior season.”

Trevor plans to major in Mechanical Engineering at Indiana Tech.

Macy Schroeder (Fort Jennings, OH/Fort Jennings) is the first Lady Warrior to sign for 2013. Macy is a multi-sport athlete at Fort Jennings where she excelled in both soccer and track. Macy qualified this past season for the Ohio State meet as part of her teams 4x400 relay that would go on to capture fifth place.  She also qualified individually in both the 100 and 200.  Macy owns career-bests of 12.74, 26.28, and 60.14, with several splits under the 60 second mark on her teams 4x400.

Coach Edgar on Macy: “We are very excited for Macy’s potential. We have been working with her since her junior year and have seen her grow in the sport. Macy competes in an area that doesn’t give her great competition week in and week out and we feel being part of our sprint squad is going to help her maximize her talent. Allowing her to train with our All-American 4x100 and 4x400 groups should provide the training needed to take her abilities to the next level.  She has a great work ethic both on the track and in the classroom and we are excited that she chose to be a Warrior!”

Macy is looking at paralegal and pre-law as potential majors at Indiana Tech.

Wayne Sherbahn (Madison, IN/Madison Consolidated) joins the Warriors as an accomplished short sprinter. This past season, Wayne won his sectional in the 100 and finished second in the 200. At the Regional, Wayne finished fourth, just missing one of the top-3 qualifying places to the state meet. Wayne ran 11.34 on his way to the sectional crown.

Coach Edgar on Wayne: “Wayne has only been competing in track for two years so he is very raw. Much like Macy, he competes in an area where the competition is not great until the Regional level.  Training with guys like All-American junior Dontaey Paige (Ft. Wayne, IN/Heritage) will help him to train at a higher level and continue to improve his time. We expect that Wayne will be sub 11 FAT this year and make some noise for a podium spot at the Indiana State meet. We are excited he chose our program and think he will be a great fit with our group of guys.”

Wayne plans on majoring in PE Teaching with a minor in coaching at Indiana Tech.
