Fort Wayne, Ind. – Indiana Tech’s John Broaden (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) has been named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Track Athlete of the Week for men’s indoor track & field.
Broaden had an impressive collegiate debut at the Grand Valley State University Early Bird on Friday, Nov. 30. The freshman from Indianapolis, Indiana captured the top spot in the 200-meter dash and hit the A standard with a time of 21.81. Not only did his time break the Tech indoor record by .21 seconds, but he also became the first male athlete to qualify for indoor nationals in the event in school history.
In addition to his first place finish in the 200, Broaden also finished second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.99.
The Warriors are back in action for the last time before the holiday break on Saturday, Dec. 8 at the University of Findlay Invite in Findlay, Ohio.
