Fort Wayne, Ind. – Three Warriors were tabbed Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week following outstanding performances at the University of Findlay Oiler Opener on Saturday.
Indiana Tech swept the men’s awards with Darryl Marlow (Norcross, GA/Chattahoochee Tech) and Dontaey Paige (Ft. Wayne, IN/Heritage) each receiving their first honors of the season.
Darryl Marlow, a junior from Norcross, Georgia, was named the Field Athlete of the Week after finishing second out of 23 competitors in the long jump. His distance of 7.14 meters (23-5.25 feet) broke his own school record and hit the A standard.
The Fort Wayne native, Dontaey Paige, finished in second place in the 60-meter dash while turning in the fastest time in the NAIA this season, crossing the line in 6.88 seconds. The junior also had a strong performance in the 200-meter dash, placing ninth in a time of 22.97 seconds.
Adella King (Detroit, MI/Finney) notched her first Track Athlete of the Week honors this season after breaking her own school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.41 seconds. The senior standout from Detroit, Michigan also ran a leg for the winning 4x400 meter relay team. The Warriors ran away with the race, finishing in a time of 3:50.
Indiana Tech returns to the track on Jan. 19 for the Tiffin University Elite Meet in Tiffin, Ohio.
