FORT WAYNE, IN- The Indiana Tech Women’s Volleyball team are ranked 17th in the NAIA National Pre-season Poll. The 2008 WHAC conference regular season champions finished the season ranked 18th and had a record of 33-5. (http://naia.cstv.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/081809aan.html)
The Warriors are coming into the 2009 season following the best record and first National Tournament appearance in school history. The Warriors lost All-American Honorable Mention middle blocker Ashtyn Humerickhouse and All-Region setter Laura Booker, as well as four other seniors from last year’s team.
The Warriors are returning 6 letter winners, including All-American Honorable Mention and All-WHAC Freshman of the Year outside hitter Ashley Hamilton, as well as All-WHAC First Team junior middle blocker Erika Stouder. The Warriors will also be returning starters Ashley Jenkins, senior outside hitter, and Amber Birky, junior opposite.
Indiana Tech volleyball was also ranked 18th in the National Poll for their GPA in the 2008/2009 school year.
The Warriors start their season in the Early Bird Tournament on August 28th at the University of Michigan Dearborn against Cedarville University at 5:30pm.
