Grand Rapids, Mich. – The Indiana Tech volleyball team went on the road to win its fifth straight match on Wednesday night, defeating conference foe Aquinas College in straight sets 25-20, 25-23, 25-22.
The Warriors improved to 8-7 overall and are a perfect 4-0 in the WHAC while Aquinas slipped to 4-6 on the year and 1-3 in league play.
Sophomore Stacy Nagy (Temperance, MI/Bedford) and senior Kelsea Nova (Toledo, OH/Bowsher), the reigning WHAC Player of the Week, paced the offense, going for 11 and 10 kills respectively. Junior setter Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Holland, OH/Notre Dame) handed out a career-high 39 assists.
Senior Kayla Foreman (Decatur, IN/Bellmont) led a group of five Tech players who recorded double-digit digs with 15. Nova and Fitzpatrick both registered their third double-double of the season after picking up 12 and 11 digs. Senior middle Kelsey Cox (Flushing, MI/Grand Rapids) finished the night with two solo blocks.
The Warriors are back in action this weekend for the Indiana Tech/Indiana Wesleyan Crossover Tournament. On Friday, Tech will play Marian University at 2 p.m. and Olivet Nazarene University 6 p.m. in the Schaefer Center. The Warriors will return to the court Saturday for day two of the tournament and take on Grace College at 10 a.m. followed by Saint Xavier University at 2 p.m.
