Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Warrior volleyball team rolled to a pair of victories over Marian University and Olivet Nazarene University to begin the Indiana Tech/Indiana Wesleyan Crossover Tournament on Friday.
The wins extended Tech’s winning streak to seven as they improved to 10-7 on the year.
The Warriors opened play by sweeping the Marian Knights, 25-19, 25-17, 25-16. Senior Kelsey Cox (Flushing, MI/Grand Rapids) had a huge day finishing with a season-high 18 kills, just two off her career best, while hitting at a .586 clip. Junior setter Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Holland, OH/Notre Dame) also had a career day setting a new high-water mark with 43 assists.
Fellow senior Kelsea Nova (Toledo, OH/Bowsher) followed with nine kills, and Stacy Nagy (Temperance, MI/Bedford) and Katelyn St. Martin (Zionsville, IN/Hamilton Southeastern) added nine apiece.
Senior libero Darcie Faylor (Ft. Wayne, IN/Kishwaukee) paced the team with 18 digs while St. Martin scooped up 17.
Next, the Warriors followed with another straight set win, this time against Olivet Nazarene, 25-17, 25-18, 25-21. Tech had a more balanced attack against the Tigers with nine players registering kills led by Cox and Nova with seven each. Fitzpatrick handed out 29 assists and senior Kayla Foreman (Decatur, IN/Adams Central) had three service aces.
Faylor led the way again defensively recording 20 digs and Foreman ended the night with 14. Cox had two solo blocks and one block assist.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with action beginning at 10 a.m. when the Warriors take on Grace College.
