Fort Wayne, Ind. – Coming off a pair of victories less than 24 hours earlier, the Indiana Tech volleyball team earned two more wins on Saturday over opponents receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 Poll to finish the Indiana Wesleyan/Indiana Tech Crossover Tournament with a perfect 4-0 record.
The Warriors have now won nine consecutive matches and have pushed their record to 12-7 on the year.
Tech began the day by defeating Grace College 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-16, 28-26). One day after setting a new career-high in assists, Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Holland, OH/Notre Dame) established a new personal best with 44 against the Lancers. The junior setter also picked up a season-high 15 digs.
Senior Kelsey Cox (Flushing, MI/Grand Rapids) had another strong performance, leading the Warriors with 14 kills while hitting at a .458 clip. She was also a force at the net, finishing the match with four solo blocks and three block assists.
The Warriors wrapped up the weekend by outlasting Saint Xavier University in a five-set thriller, 25-9, 18-25, 25-19, 18-25, 15-7. Senior outside hitter Kelsea Nova (Toledo, OH/Bowsher) collected a season-high 16 kills to lead the attack while Fitzpatrick handed out 42 assists. Senior Darcie Faylor (Ft. Wayne, IN/Kishwaukee) and freshman Katelyn St. Martin (Zionsville, IN/Hamilton Southeastern) added three aces apiece.
Nova and fellow senior Kayla Foreman (Decatur, IN/Adams Central) paced the defense with 15 digs each.
The Warriors return to the court on Tuesday night when they welcome the University of Michigan-Dearborn to the Schaefer Center for a conference clash beginning at 7 p.m.
