Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech volleyball team rolled past Robert Morris University 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-20) in a non-conference match on Saturday night in the Schaefer Center.
The Warriors were impressive from the start, jumping out to a 12-5 lead in the opening set and cruising to a 25-15 win.
Robert Morris (7-24) was able to hang with Tech for a little longer in the second set before the Warriors overpowered the Eagles. Indiana Tech held a slim 12-10 edge before going on a 13-6 run to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
In the third set, Stacy Nagy (Temperance, MI/Bedford), Kelsea Nova (Toledo, OH/Bowsher), and Suzanne Taylor (Petersburg, MI/Ida) all had three kills apiece to lead Tech to the sweep of the visiting Eagles.
The Warriors held Robert Morris to a .058 hitting percentage while hitting at a .287 clip themselves. Taylor finished the night hitting an incredible .727 with eight kills. Nagy paced all hitters with nine kills while Nova and Kelsey Cox (Flushing, MI/Grand Rapids) added six each.
Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Holland, OH/Notre Dame Academy) directed the offense with 32 assists and had a huge game on defense. The 5-4 junior setter had nine digs and five solo blocks. Kayla Foreman (Decatur, IN/Adams Central) and Darcie Faylor (Ft. Wayne, IN/Kishwaukee) picked up 11 and eight digs respectively.
The Warriors (19-9, 7-1 WHAC) return to the court on Wednesday, Oct. 24 when they welcome WHAC newcomer Lawrence Tech to town in a 7 p.m. matchup.
