Livonia, Mich. – The Indiana Tech volleyball team traveled to Madonna University on Wednesday night for a huge conference match with the 16th ranked Crusaders. The Warriors battled, but it would be Madonna who came away with a straight set win (25-21, 25-22, 25-18).

The two teams entered the contest tied for the league lead, and with the WHAC regular season title still up for grabs, looked to take control of the top spot in the standings.

Madonna did just that and with the victory moved to 29-7 overall and 9-1 in WHAC play while the Warriors fell to 23-11 and are tied with three other teams with an 8-2 mark in the conference.

Tech began the match by opening up a 3-0 lead, but the Crusaders came back and took their first lead of the set at 7-6. The set continued to go back and forth until MU pulled ahead by five, 21-16, on their way to taking a 1-0 advantage.

The Warriors started fast again in the second set, going up 4-0 and rode their momentum to a 17-10 lead. However, an 8-1 run by the home team tied the set, and the Crusaders would take their first lead at 20-19, eventually winning the set.

Holding a two sets to none lead, Madonna took a big lead early in the third set and were able to hold off the Warriors to win the match 3-0.

Leading the way for the Warriors was Christine Foest (Welland, Ont./Notre Dame HS) with 10 kills followed by Stacy Nagy (Temperance, MI/Bedford) with seven. Kelsey Fitzpatrick (Holland, OH/Notre Dame Academy) recorded a double-double with 25 assists and 14 digs.

Darcie Faylor (Ft. Wayne, IN/Kishwaukee) finished with a match-high 15 digs and Kelsey Cox (Flushing, MI/Grand Rapids) had one solo block and five block assists.

With postseason implications on the line, the Warriors will look to bounce back against conference foe University of Northwestern Ohio on Friday, Nov. 2 in the Schaefer Center at 7 p.m. in the final match of the regular season.
