RESULTS | FORT WAYNE, Ind. –The Indiana Tech volleyball team extended its winning streak to three games with a four game, 3-1 (25-17, 26-28, 25-15, 25-16) victory over Siena Heights on Wednesday night in the Schaefer Center. With the win the Warriors improve to 10-16 overall and 4-2 in WHAC play while the Saints fall to 11-6 on the season and 4-2 in conference play.
Tech got off to a fast start in set one, taking a 15-8 lead, but the Saints made it close going on a 5-1 run to cut the lead to 16-13. The Orange and Black, wearing pink for their “Dig Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness and Support,” closed out the game on a 9-4 run to win the set 25-17. It was a different set in game two as the Saints were able to keep the game close, eventually pulled out a 28-26 win.
Despite a sluggish start to game three, it was all Warriors as Tech built a 15-9 lead after losing the first three points, going on to win 25-15. Set four was much of the same as the Saints kept the game close early, but a 17-8 run by the Warriors closed out the 25-16 win and the four set victory.
Leading the offense for the Warriors was senior Suzanne Taylor who tallied a match-high 15 kills, while also leading the team with a .278 hitting percentage. Shanice Richards and Christine Foest each added seven kills for Tech with Richards also collecting a season-high five solo blocks and three block assists.
Kelsey Fitzpatrick led the way with 23 assists for the Warriors with Alexandra Roberts adding 13.
Taylor Kelso tallied 22 kills for the Warriors while Foest was big on defense at the net with two solo blocks and four assists as Tech collected a season-high 17 blocks.
The difference in the match was hitting percentage as Tech hit .173 while limiting Siena Heights to a .014 hitting percentage.
The Warriors will put their winning streak on the line when they return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 16 against Davenport. The 7 p.m. contest will be held in the Schaefer Center.
