RESULTS | SOUTHFIELD, Mich.--The Indiana Tech volleyball team snapped its two-game losing streak with a 3-1 (25-13, 21-25, 25-16, 25-19) victory over Lawrence Tech on Wednesday night at the Blue Devils Field House.
The Warriors (11-18, 5-4) fell behind 3-0 in the first set but didn’t let the game get away, tying the score at three and five before winning 20 of the next 28 points to win the set 25-13. Tech hit .267 in the set while holding Blue Devils (3-18, 0-9) to a .028 mark.
It was a rough second game as the Orange and Black committed 11 hitting errors for a -.094 hitting percentage in route to a 25-21 loss. The Warriors held a 21-20 lead in the set but couldn’t close the door, committing four consecutive errors to end the match.
Tech came back strong in the final two sets, hitting .531, committing just one error, in game three and then tallied 16 kills on 36 attempts to hit .278 in the final set for the win. The Warriors trailed just once in the final two games, falling behind 1-0 in the fourth game.
Suzanne Taylor continued her stellar play with a team high 13 kill while hitting .300 in the match. Shanice Richards led the team with a .429 hitting percentage, collecting 12 kills while Katelyn St. Martin added 11 kills in the match.
Kelsey Fitzpatrick led the team with 23 assists with fellow setter Alexandra Roberts tallying 18.
On defense, St. Martin led the Warriors with 19 digs while Taylor Kelso added 18 and Fitzpatrick tallied 10.
Tech returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they travel to Clinton, Iowa for back-to-back games against Ashford and No.25 Grand View. The Warriors play their first match at 11 a.m. with their matchup against the Vikings scheduled for 1 p.m.
