The Indiana Tech Warriors have signed two more players for the 2009 season on March 6. Laren Brummer, a senior at Effingham High School in Effingham, Illinois and Klaudia Velazquez, a senior at Harry D. Jacobs High School in Pingree, Illinois have both signed to play with the Warriors for 2009.
Laren is a part of Top Spin Volleyball Club and Klaudia is a part of The Sports Academy Volleyball Club. Both teams were playing in the Mid-East Qualifier tournament in Indianapolis, IN over the weekend where they were able to meet and sign together. Laren, a 5'10" outside hitter, received All-Conference honors and the Best Hitter Award in 2008. She has also been a part of a team that has been both Conference and Regional Champions since 2006.She has been an honor roll student during all four years of high school and plans to major in Sports Management while at Indiana Tech. "Laren is a strong hitter and an athletic player. She also has some great ball control. We expect Laren to step in and contribute right away next season," said head coach Kirsta Solberg.
Klaudia Velazquez, standing at 5'7", has played outside hitter for her team for the past four years. However, she will step into the Indiana Tech line-up as a defensive specialist. "Klaudia is a quick and athletic player. She has done a very good job as a small outside hitter and using her speed and ability to read the court, we look forward to grooming her into a great defensive player for us this season," commented Solberg. Klaudia has received the Latino Athletic Achievement Award in 2007 as well as Academic All-Conference during her high school career.
