Ann Arbor, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women’s basketball team was defeated by No. 10 Concordia University 67-53 on Monday night, snapping the Warriors’ four game winning streak.

The loss dropped Tech to 11-13 on the year and 9-7 in the conference. Concordia moved to 20-4 overall and 15-1 in the WHAC with the win.

The junior duo of Rachael Kruse (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead) and Chelsea Carradine (Redford, MI/Thurston) scored in double-figures to pace the Warriors.

However, Tech couldn’t find an answer for two of the WHAC’s top players in Abbey Hengesbach and Hannah Sabol. Hengesbach finished with a game-high 21 points while Sabol had 17 to go along with 12 rebounds.

The Warriors started with an 8-2 lead after Kruse scored six points in the first four minutes, but Concordia would come back to tie the game 9-9. From there, the host Cardinals would go on a 9-2 run and not give up the lead.

Concordia took a 34-23 lead into the break and opened the second half with another quick scoring run to push their advantage to 19, 44-25, at the 15:14 mark.

Tech finished the night strong though, outscoring the Cardinals 10-2 over the 4:30 of the contest.

The Warriors shot 36 percent from the floor compared to Concordia’s 41 percent. The Cardinals also had a big edge on the glass, out-rebounding Tech by 20 and converting those boards into 12 second chance points.

To go along with her 16 points, Kruse hauled in four rebounds, had two assists, two blocks, and two steals. Carradine followed with 14 points, going 6-for-9 from the field, and added four boards. Rayana Villalpando (Bellflower, CA/Downey) chipped in seven points and dished out six assists.

The Warriors will have a quick turnaround, hosting Siena Heights University on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. before Lourdes University comes to town on Saturday, Feb. 2 for another conference tilt beginning at 1 p.m.
