Fort Wayne, IN-- The Lady Warriors (2-5) came out strong against the Titans of Indiana University- South Bend (8-2.) Determined to put another tally in the win column the Warrior defense was supurb. Forcing ten turnovers and three shot clock violations in the first half alone the Warriors took a 15-24 lead into the locker room.
A full team effort, eight Warriors added points in the first half led by Julie Stetzel, Ebony Robinson, and Cady Riggs. The Warriors defense was able to keep the Titans shooting from the parimeter until deep into the second half which proved to keep Tech in the game.
The key to the game seemed to come from Tech turnovers. In another fast paced game, Tech committed eighteen turnovers leading to several Titans points. After a critical time out the Warriors got back on track. Down by seven with just over two minutes to play, Rodney Hamilton's Warriors pulled out the stops.
Some smart plays by Ebony Robinson and Yasmine Coleman and a big 3-pointer from Julie Stetzel, it looked like Tech might pull it out. With 1.3 ticks on the clock, a last shot effort from well beyond half court by Hannah Thieke, came up short and the Warriors left the court on a one point, 51-52 loss.
The Warriors will be back in action on Tuesday at Grace College. Game time tip off scheduled for 7 p.m. For more information on Lady Warrior Basketball please contact Kaylee Swanson at 260.422.5561 ext. 2443 or via email at kaswanson@indianatech.edu.
