Fort Wayne, IN-- The Lady Warriors opened the Sport One Classic against the Patriots from St. Catharine with a 68-59 win. As the defense continues to improve for the Warriors, they were unable to find an offensive rhythm in the first half. St. Catharine on the other hand was 11 of 25 and 6 for 6 from the free throw line.
Julie Stetzel led the Warriors in the first half with 9 points, penetrating through the tough Patriot defense. Hannah Thieke also came up big sinking a 3-point shot to keep the Warriors close.
Hamilton's Warriors entered the second half down 25-29 but weren't phased. With quick feet the Warriors were able to challenge the 4 point deficit successfully. The Patriots sent the Warriors to the line where they were able to pick up 21 free points. Amanda Tipton and Yasmine Coleman both perfect from the line, while Ebony Robinson was able to sink critical shots down the stretch.
Tech remain composed most of the game and cause St. Catharine to commit 14 turnover in the 2nd half alone. The Lady Warriors will take their winning streak back to the court tomorrow at 2 p.m. against the Knights from Marian College. Marian College played University of Northwest Ohio this evening and came away with the victory.
