Jacksonville, IL – The Indiana Tech women’s golf team opened their 2011 campaign this past weekend at the Illinois College Invitational. The defending WHAC champs sat in sixth place after day one of competition with a 351 but fired a 333 on day two to finish in fifth with a 684.
William Woods University one the event with a 629 and the University of Illinois Springfield followed scoring a 655. Truman State University rounded out the top three scoring a 674.
Junior Megan Garrison (Burlington, IN/Carroll) paced the Warriors shooting back-to-back 79’s to finish tied for third overall.
Senior Kalie Sanders (Greenville, OH/Greenville) tied for 21st, shooting a 172 with freshmen Julia Browning (Cantrall, IL/Athens) and Haley Larson (Enon, OH/Greenon) right behind her with 174’s tied for 23rd.
Junior Katie Clouse (Marion, IN/Grace) carded a 182 finishing tied for 39th place and sophomore Tina Mettert (New Haven, IN/New Haven) turned in a 190 tied for 55th place.
The Warriors return to action on Saturday, September 10 at Hanover College before the first WHAC Jamboree hosted by Cornerstone University on September 13.
