Lima, OH – The Indiana Tech women’s golf team sat in a 2nd place tie with Aquinas College with a 366, just six shots back of leader Madonna University after the first round of WHAC Jamboree #3 hosted by Lourdes University and the University of Northwestern Ohio on Friday.
Even with shooting a combined thirteen shots better on day two, it was not enough to keep pace with the Saints who edged out the Crusaders by one stroke with a final score of 703. Madonna finished with a 704 and the Warriors rounded out the top-3 with a 719.
After three conference events, Madonna holds a 29 shot lead over Aquinas for the top spot and a 38 shot lead over Tech sitting in third place.
Junior Megan Garrison (Burlington, IN/Carroll) held a two-stroke overnight lead in the individual rankings, firing an 86 in the opening round, but could not hold off Madonna’s Michelle Hall who took home the top honors with a 170. Garrison finished in a tie for 4th with a 174.
Freshman Haley Larson (Enon, OH/Greenon) notched her third top-10 finish of the year carding a 180 (93/87) to place 10th. Senior Kalie Sanders (Greenville, OH/Greenville) tied for 14th place after shooting a 96 in the first round and following it up by going six shots better with an 88 on day two. Freshman Julia Browning (Cantrall, IL/Athens) tied for 17th with a two-day total of 185.
The Warriors wrap up their conference schedule at the final WHAC Jamboree of the year next on October 8. The event will be hosted by Madonna University at Walnut Creek Country Club in South Lyon, Michigan.
