Riverside, Iowa – The Indiana Tech women’s golf team sat in second place after the first round of the Ashford University Spring Invitational on Friday, just three strokes back of leader William Penn University, with a 346. The Warriors struggled on day two though shooting a 364 to drop to fourth place with a total team score of 710.
Grand View University won the event with a 691 and William Penn came in second with a 697.
Reigning WHAC Golfer of the Week Megan Garrison (Burlington, IN/Carroll) led Tech with back-to-back rounds of 83 to post a two-round total of 166. The junior standout finished in a tie for third place overall, her ninth top 5 finish of the year.
Senior Kalie Sanders (Greenville, OH/Greenville) shot an opening round 85 and a second round 89 to finish with a 174 and in 11th place. Freshman Haley Larson (Enon, OH/Greenon) followed in 12th place with a 175 after carding rounds of 83 and 92.
Up next, the Warriors will tee it up at the Asbury University Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday in Nicholasville, Kentucky at the Connamara Golf Course.
