Nicholasville, Ky. – Junior Megan Garrison (Burlington, IN/Carroll) was on her game at the Asbury University Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, leading the Indiana Tech women’s golf team to a first place finish as well as taking home medalist honors for the fourth time this season.
Indiana Tech shot a two-round team score of 683 to win the event by 59 strokes. Tech had a balanced scoring effort as all five Warriors finished no lower than seventh place individually. Asbury came in second place with a 742 followed by Brescia University in third with a 762.
Garrison led the field after an opening round 82 and improved on that score on day two with a 78 for a total score of 160, winning by seven shots.
Freshman Haley Larson (Enon, OH/Greenon) came in fifth place with a 171. Larson carded a 90 after the first 18-holes and shot nine strokes better in round two with an 81, tying her season-low. Senior Kalie Sanders (Greenville, OH/Greenville) was right behind in sixth place after rounds of 89 and 87 for a total score of 176.
Freshman Julia Browning (Cantrall, IL/Athens) and junior Katie Clouse (Marion, IN/Grace) tied for seventh overall with matching scores of 180. Browning opened with a 96 before bouncing back with an 84 while Clouse carded rounds of 92 and 88.
The Warriors are right back in action on April 13-14 at the Millikin University Spring Classic in Decatur, Illinois at Scovill Golf Course.
