Livonia, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women’s golf team finished in fourth place at the 2012 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship held at Whispering Willows Golf Course. The Warriors bettered their opening round 364 by 11 strokes on Thursday, but it wasn’t enough to catch Madonna University, who took home the title.
Madonna won the championship by 13 strokes to claim the conference’s automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships. The Crusaders shot a two-round score of 687 and were followed by Aquinas College with a 700 and Davenport University with a 716. Tech finished with a score of 717.
Leading the Warriors was junior Megan Garrison (Burlington, IN/Carroll), who shot rounds of 87 and 85 to finish in seventh place overall for a 36-hole total of 172.
Julia Browning (Cantrall, IL/Athens) and Haley Larson (Enon, OH/Greenon) continued their strong freshmen campaigns in a tie for 14th place with matching scores of 183. Senior Kalie Sanders (Greenville, OH/Greenville) followed, ending the event tied for 17th after a two-round total of 184.
Junior Katie Clouse (Marion, IN/Grace) landed in 20th with a 185 and fellow junior Andria Schrock (Delta, OH/Pike-Delta-York) finished 26th with a 197.
The Warriors will conclude their 2011-12 season at the Franklin College Lady Grizzly Invitational at the Hillview Country Club in Franklin, Indiana at April 21-22.
