Garrison Named First Team All-WHAC, Larson Honorable Mention

Fort Wayne, Ind. –The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced the women’s golf postseason honors and Indiana Tech’s Megan Garrison (Burlington, IN/Carroll) has received First Team All-Conference honors after a stellar 2011-12 campaign. Also receiving recognition was freshman Haley Larson (Enon, OH/Greenon), who was named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference team. 

Garrison picked up her third First Team All-Conference selection in as many seasons after leading the team this year with an 81.3 stroke average and being named the WHAC Golfer of the Week four times. Tech’s junior standout had five first-place finishes in 2011-12 as well as 12 top-5 finishes. She finished in the top-5 in every WHAC Jamboree, including one first place finish.

In addition, Garrison led the Warriors to three first-place team finishes during the year at the WHAC Jamboree 4, the Union College Fall Invitational, and the Asbury University Invitational.

Larson stepped right in and made an immediate impact for the Warriors. The freshman from Enon, Ohio finished the year in the top-10 six times, including two top-5 finishes. She averaged a score of 87.9 with her season-low round of 81 coming at the Hanover College Fall Invite. She captured second place, her highest finish of the year, at the Millikin University Spring Classic with an 82. 

Three Warriors were named to the WHAC All-Academic Team. Juniors Katie Clouse (Marion, IN/Grace) and Megan Garrison, along with senior Kalie Sanders (Greenville, OH/Greenville) all received recognition for their hard work and dedication in the classroom. To receive this honor a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.

Garrison was also chosen to the WHAC Champions of Character Team as the team member who best represents the NAIA’s five core character values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.
