Seymour, Ind. – Senior Megan Garrison’s (Cutler, IN/Carroll) historic rounds over the weekend powered the Indiana Tech women’s golf team to a team score of 655 as the Warriors ran away with the Hanover College Invitational.
Indiana Tech’s 655 tied the school record for 36-holes, and was good enough to win the event by 13 shots over Hanover and Marian University, who tied for second with a 668.
The win was the third straight for Tech, which was the first time in school history the team has won three consecutive tournaments.
Garrison began the weekend by firing a school record 72 to pace the field. Her score broke Jordan Essman’s previous mark of 73 set in 2008. On Sunday, she followed it up with a three-over 76 to shoot a two-day total of 148 – which shattered her own school record of 153 set last year. Garrison won her second tournament of the season, this time by seven strokes.
Freshman Lizzie Campbell (Sydney, Australia/Sceggs Redlands) nabbed her third straight top-5 finish after carding rounds of 83 and 78 to land in a tie for fifth place. Sophomore Haley Larson (Enon, OH/Greenon) tied for 12th with after shooting 89 and 82.
Freshman Rachel George (Gahanna, OH/Gahanna Lincoln) carded a 175 (87/88) to place 17th and junior Christina Mettert (New Haven, IN/New Haven) finished with a 183 (94/89) in 31st.
The Warriors are back in action on Sept. 21-22 at the WHAC Jamboree #2 hosted by Madonna University and Concordia University.
