South Bend, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women’s golf team shot a team score of 673 to finish second at the Battle at Blackthorn hosted by Bethel College in South Bend, Indiana on Tuesday.
Host school Bethel ran away with the victory by 25 strokes after shooting a 648. University of Saint Francis (IL) and Wheaton College tied for third with scores of 680.
Senior Megan Garrison (Cutler, IN/Carroll) was tied for fifth overall with an 81 after Monday’s opening round, but battled back and fired a tournament-best 76 in round two to tie Saint Francis (IL)’s Meg Monson at the top of the leaderboard. However, Monson won shooting par on the first hole of the tie break.
Finishing just out of the top-10 was freshman Lizzie Campbell (Sydney, Australia/Sceggs Redlands). Campbell opened with an 87 and shot six strokes better on day two with an 81 to finish in a tie for 12th place.
Rounding out the scoring for the Warriors were sophomore Julia Browning (Cantrall, IL/Athens) with a 36-hole total of 175, freshman Rachel George (Gahanna, OH/Gahanna Lincoln) with a 184, and senior Katie Clouse (Marion, IN/Grace) with a 193.
Up next for the Warriors is the WHAC Jamboree #3 hosted by Aquinas College at Scott Lake Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 27.
