Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women’s golf team shot a 338 to finish third in the WHAC Jamboree #4 at Coyote Creek Golf Club on Wednesday.
Aquinas College and Madonna University shared the top spot with a team score of 334. Aquinas’ Abby Hagan claimed the top spot, with Madonna placing four individuals in the top-10.
The Jamboree was the final conference match of the regular season, and with the shared win, Aquinas was able to hold on to their overall lead and claim the WHAC regular season championship. The Saints will now host the 2013 WHAC Spring Championship.
Tech’s third place finish gave them third place in the final conference standings.
Leading Indiana Tech was senior Megan Garrison (Cutler, IN/Carroll), who entered the day in a tight battle with Hagan for the conference’s top individual golfer. Garrison fired a 78 and landed in second place, but it would not be enough as Hagan turned in a 76 to secure WHAC Individual Medalist honors by three shots.
Sophomore Julia Browning (Cantrall, IL/Athens) placed sixth with an 84 on the day. Freshman Lizzie Campbell (Sydney, Australia/Sceggs Redlands), who shot an 87, was just outside of the top-10 with a solid 11th place finish. Junior Christina Mettert (New Haven, IN/New Haven) came in 19th with an 89.
The Warriors will wrap up their fall slate with the Union College Invitational at Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville, Kentucky on Oct. 22-23.
