Madison, Wis. – In their final tune up before the conference championship, the Indiana Tech women’s golf team played very well at the Edgewood College Spring Invitational at Cherokee Country Club. The Warriors finished in second place and had two golfers place in the top-5 overall.
After an opening round 349, Tech shot 12 strokes better in the second round finishing with a 337 for a total score of 686. University of Wisconsin-Stout won the event with a team score of 676.
Megan Garrison and Julia Browning led the way for the Warriors finishing in the top-5. Garrison carded rounds of 82 and 79 to come in second place overall with a 161, just four shots back of the winner. Browning shot an 85 through the first 18-holes but also fired a 79 during the final day of competition to finish fourth with a 164.
The rest of the Tech scoring contingent placed in the top-20. Haley Larson finished 13th with a 179 (90/89) followed by Tina Mettert in 18th with a 185 (95/90) and Rachel George in 19th with a 187 (92/95).
The Warriors are back in action on Monday, May 6 for the first round of the WHAC Championship held at Scott Lake Country Club in Comstock Park, Michigan. Round two will follow on Tuesday, May 7.
