Tech signs German Junior Golf Standout

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Indiana Tech women’s golf head coach Kelly Mettert is proud to announce the signing of Wiebke Schlender from Paderborn, Germany.

Wiebke is a member at the Dusseldorfer Golf Club and plays in the 1st Bundesliga, which is the top national women's league. She is currently a 2.9 handicap and a veteran of many top junior tournaments in Germany. She finished 25th in the U18 national championship last year and 53rd in the International Amateur girl’s tournament in Germany in May. The tournament included girls from many countries and a cut after 36 holes.

Coach Mettert on Wiebke, “I think that Wiebke will help add much needed depth for us to make a run at the conference championship and getting the bid to the National Championship.”

Her parents are Petra Knust-Schlender and Matthias Beck. Her siblings are Sebastian (20), Ann-Kathryn (18), Maike (16), and Leonie (13).
