Results|FORT WAYNE, Ind. –The Indiana Tech women’s golf team set a school record with a 36-hole score of 631 in route to their first tournament win of the season, taking the Illinois College Invitational for the second year in a row on Sunday.
Freshman Wiebke Schlender (Paderborn, Germany) won her first collegiate ndividual title in just her second collegiate round of golf while tying the school-record for 18-holes with a 72 yesterday and the 36-hole record with a 148 (76).
Two other Warrior freshmen finished in the top four with Courtney Dye (Williamsburg, Mich.)recording her second consecutive runner-up finish with a final round 80 for a 154 (74-80) overall and Tamina Römer (Dusseldorf, Germany) finished in fourth after carding her second 80 for the tournament for a 160 (80-80).
Sophomore Rachel George (Gahanna, Ohio) shaved seven strokes off her first round score for an 81 to finish tied for 12th with a 169 (88-81) while senior Tina Mettert (New Haven, Ind.) finished with a 191 (93-98).
Tech defeated Rend Lake Community College (663) by 32 strokes as the Orange and Black were the only team to break 320 both days. UW-Platteville finished third with a 692 with Clarke (694) and Millikin (696) rounding out the top five.
The Warriors return to the links on Friday, Sept. 13 when they take part in The Battle at Blackthorn at Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend, Ind.
