RESULTS | LIMA, Ohio –The Indiana Tech women’s golf team clinched the WHAC Regular Season title on Saturday at Hawthorne Hills Golf Club despite finishing second to Madonna in the WHAC Jamboree #4, carding a final round 319 and shooting 657 (338-319) overall.
Courtney Dye and Wiebke Schlender tied for second each finishing the two-day, 36-hole event 12-over par with a 156. Dye was the lone player under par on Saturday as she carded a 71, 14 strokes better than her first round 85. Schlender shot a final round 79 after carding a 77 on Friday. Tamina Römer also finished in the top five, carding a 36-hole 158 (80-78).
Rachel George and Tina Mettert rounded out the scoring for Tech, shooting a two-day 187 (96-91) and 194 (103-91), respectively.
Madonna won the eight team event with a two-day total of 648 (338-310), nine strokes better than the Warriors (338-319=657) after the two teams began the day tied for the lead. Siena Heights finished third with a 682 (356-326) with Aquinas (357-330=687) and Davenport (364-351=715) rounded out the top five.
Tech won the WHAC title with a stroke total of 1623, besting Madonna (1630) by seven strokes. Siena Heights finished third with 1,687 strokes while Aquinas (1703) and Lourdes (1762) rounded out the top five.
Schlender was named Player of the Year and Head Coach Kelly Mettert was also award Coach of the Year honors.
The Orange and Black conclude their fall season with a trip to Lake Wales, Fla. on Nov. 2-3 for the Hope and Honor Golf Invitational at Lake Wales Country Club.
