RESULTS | LAKE WALES, Fla. – Wiebke Schlender continued her incredible freshman campaign with her seventh win of the season as she won in a playoff over Andrea Lopez after both finished with a 148 after 36-holes of play at the Beyond the Roar Invitational on Sunday at the Lake Wales Country Club. The Warriors finished second as a team with a 648 (319-329).
Schlender, who held the first round led with an even-par 72, struggled on day two, carding a 76 for a 148, winning the event on a playoff, her first win via a playoff this season. Courtney Dye also recorded a top-10 finish with a 36-hole total of 160 (78-82) while Tamina Römer fell seven spots with a second-round 85, finishing 13th with a 165 (80-85).
Rachel George finished 22nd with a 175 (89-86) while Haley Larson carded a two-day total of 191 (97-94) to round out the scoring for the Orange and Black. Competing as an individual for the Warriors, Tina Mettert finished 26th with a 184 (91-93).
Northwood (Fla.) won the event with a 631 (317-314), placing their top-four athletes in the top-six and all five golfers finished in the top-11. Tech finished 17-strokes back with a 648 while Southeastern (339-335=674), Webber International (350-338=688) and Johonson & Wales (Fla.) (357-335=692) round out the top five.
Schlender has been impressive this season as she has placed in the top-10 in all eight tournaments this fall, placing outside the top-two just once, a top-10 finish in the second event of the season.
The Warriors have concluded their fall season and will return to the course in 2014 as WHAC regular-season champions.
